What typically are management fees (both management and incentive fees) for pooled investment vehicles, such as private equity pools and limited partnerships? I read in Wikipedia the "2 and 20" rule, with 2% management fee on total assets and 20% of total return, for both the Hedge Fund and the Venture Capital definition. [...]

I want to know everything about mutual funds, what are they, how do the work, where can I buy them, what am I buying, how do I make money off them, etc. Please don't direct me to investopedia or wikipedia, I want to hear from anybody who has a broad range of knowledge.
